I’m leaving today for Aspen. Snow is my enemy, but laughter is my friend. See you at Wheeler Opera House!

Legacy of laughs

Today-Saturday.Comedy festival. Aspen has a storied stand-up history, from the HBO-sponsored U.S. Comedy Arts Festival to its more recent role as home of theRooftopComedy.comFestival. Those events have moved on, but the Wheeler Opera House is staging an ambitious, if smaller, event this weekend. Organizers are playing it safe with middle-of-the-road headliners like Christopher Titus and Caroline Rhea, but the real action will be with exciting up-and-comers like Christina Pazsitzky, worthy locals Andrew Orvedahl, Jim Hickox, Hippieman and dozens of other undiscovered gems. Events range from free to $43.50 for single-day passes and $135 for the full festival. 320 E. Hyman Ave. 970-920-5770 or aspenshowtix.com.
