Sometimes I’ll sit on my couch alone with a baker’s dozen of Cinnabons and just eat out the middles, wondering “is life worth living”? Then just before I watch another episode of “Hoarders”, I’ll get a text message from a friend, informing me that the Pixies (MY FAVORITE BAND IN THE ENTIRE UNIVERSE) have just released their own SHOE! I’ve got the CD’s, the documentary, the hoodie and now the SHOE. So excited, I can’t contain it. But they’re $60!! Doesn’t Kim Deal know all her fans are derelicts who need that $60 for a bag of the chronic, the best tonic?

This is an ad for a fun beach resort in Abu Dhabi. Know what’s really fun? Going to the beach covered head to toe in heavy robes.
So I just came back from the Middle East and couldn’t blog the whole time because the internet connections were either too costly or insufficient. Yes, I’ve got tons to say about the trip. Yes, it blew my mind and changed me in ways I’ll never understand. But first, this. My husband met the Mustard Belt Champion Joey Chestnut in person this morning in Dallas!
If you will refer to my July 4th blog you will see my adulation for Joey and my denigration of the one-who-shall-rename-nameless.
This is the best welcome home to the USA that I could have ever gotten.
My husband’s on the right and Joey’s on the left. Joey looks a bit thinner than usual, but I’m assuming he’s training hard to kick anyone’s ass (particularly Japanese ones). It appears the Kolache eating contest is today in Houston. This is so exciting and I’m hoping my husband will ask him questions about Sonya the Black Widow pictured below. She’s tiny and weighs like 90 pounds, but her specialty is Buffalo Wings. Tomorrow is the annual Buffalo Wing eating contest in Buffalo, NY and Sonya is the reigning champ of that event. I’m proud to be American in so many ways today. What a country. We have so much that we cram our faces with it to show those who have so little what it means to be AMERICAN!
